Public Works Summer Update
Release Date: July 26, 2010
During the spring & summer season, the Department of Public Works has been attending to the planting, trimming and general enhancement of the appearance of the Township public areas. All Township streets have been swept regularly and public areas have been trimmed of brush and overgrowth. Additionally, areas within the State's jurisdiction along Route 23 leading into and out of the Township have been maintained by Township forces.
Concentration has been placed upon the upkeep and maintenance of the lake and swimming areas at PV Park. Regular cleaning of the beach, sampling of the water and control of the wildlife have resulted in a very well used summer recreational area for residents and for the Pequannock swim team. The new pavilion at Greenview Park has also become a popular spot for parties and picnics this season.
Baseball continues to be a favorite Township activity and all ball fields are prepared for play as the season continues.
Inspections of the Township’s leaf compost area by the NJDEP have been conducted resulting in acceptable conditions and compliance in all areas.
Remember, free mulch and topsoil are available to residents at 99 Alexander Avenue as a result of our leaf collection program. This material can be picked up at the Public Works building between 7:30 am and 3:00 pm on weekdays.
The Morris County Mosquito Commission cleaned and desnagged debris behind Brookside Drive in the vicinity of the flood gates on Route 23.
