Possession of Prescription Drugs:  May 23, 2012 @ 15:08 Hrs
Ptl. Chris Nelson was on Route 23 North when he observed a 1997 Chevy traveling in front of his police vehicle with unclear license plates. Ptl. Nelson stopped the vehicle in front of the Pompton Queen Diner. While the driver was retrieving the vehicle’s documents from the glove box, the officer observed two pills bottles without labels on them and inquired further. The driver, identified as: Christopher M. Sulkowski, 25 years of age from Pompton Lakes, NJ was charged with Possession of Prescription Drugs and Unclear Plates. He was released pending an appearance in Municipal Court.
 
Theft by Deception, Conspiracy, Identity Theft:  May 24, 2012 @ 18:00 Hrs
Employees from Pompton Honda on Route 23 in Pompton Plains called to report a credit card fraud were three individuals came into the establishment and purchased $955.18 and ordered approximately $6,900.00 worth of merchandise, with credit cards that turned out to be not valid. After the individuals left the business with the $955.18 worth of merchandise, the employees called the credit card companies and found them to be not valid. The employees called police and called the individuals to return, claiming they found parts that had been ordered. Upon arrival, the individuals were found to be in possession of the fake credit cards and fake identification, and were placed under arrest by Det./Sgt. Daniel Comune and Ptl. Kevin Boone. The arrestees are: Danilo Vargas, 23 years of age from Bronx, NY; Xavier Garcia, 25 years of age from Palm Bay, FL; Jeriel Delosangeles, 23 years of age from Bronx, NY. The individuals were charged with Theft by Deception, Wrongful Impersonation, Conspiracy to Commit Theft, and False Credit Cards. Municipal Judge John A. Paparazzo set bail at $25,000 for each individual. All three parties were transported to the Morris county Correctional Facility in default of the bail amount pending their appearance in Court.
 
Possession of Marijuana, Suspended Driver:  May 26, 2012 @ 11:27 Hrs
Ptl. Ken Hunt was monitoring traffic on Route 23 South near Jackson Ave in Pompton Plains, when he observed a 2000 Chrysler Sebring traveling south with a brake light out. After running a license plate check, it revealed the registered owner had an outstanding warrant from Pequannock Municipal Court. Ptl. Hunt stopped the vehicle and placed the driver, identified as: Rachel A. Coffman, 28 years of age from Butler, NJ under arrest. A search incident to her arrest resulted in a plastic bag containing marijuana to be located inside her purse. Miss Coffman was transported to police headquarters and charged with Possession of CDS, Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle, Maintenance of Lamps, and Driving While Suspended. She posted her outstanding bail and was released pending her appearance in Municipal Court.
 
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia:  May 26, 2012 @ 19:36 Hrs
Ptl. Jack Lyon was on patrol traveling south on Route 23 when he observed a 1998 Chrysler Sebring pass his patrol vehicle with its license plate in the windshield of the vehicle. Ptl. Lyon stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, identified as: Jason F. Mubaideen, 23 years of age from Wyckoff, NJ. While speaking with the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. After the driver admitted to smoking earlier in the day, consent was given to the officer to search the vehicle, which resulted in a digital scale with remains of marijuana on it. Mr. Mubaideen was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Improper Display of Plates. He was released pending a Municipal Court appearance.
 
Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Maintenance of Lamps:  May 27, 2012 @ 01:08 Hrs
Ptl. Chris Nelson was traveling south on route 23 when he observed a 1998 Honda Prelude in front of him and could not read the license plate due to a light out. After stopping the vehicle, the officer detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. In speaking with the occupants, they gave different stories of where they were heading. After questioning the driver further, the driver admitted that a “joint” was next to the center console and passenger seat. The passenger, identified as: Ihsan Tauheed, 22 years of age from East Orange, NJ admitted the marijuana was his. A further search resulted in a grinder found in Mr. Tauheed’s book bag. Mr. Tauheed was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia. He was released pending his appearance in Municipal Court. The driver was issued a summons for Maintenance of Lamps.
 
Possession of Marijuana, Expired Registration:  May 27, 2012 @ 21:33 Hrs
Ptl. Daniel Russell was on patrol when he conducted a random plate check on a 2004 Mazda MZ6, which came back with an expired registration. The vehicle was stopped on Route 23 North in Pompton Plains. As the officer spoke with the driver, he detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. After gaining consent to search the vehicle, the officer found a marijuana blunt in the ash tray. The 17 year old Sussex man was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters. He was later released to his 18 year old girlfriend pending juvenile complaints through the Juvenile Officer.
 
Criminal Trespass, Attempted Burglary: May 28, 2012 @ 09:19 Hrs
Patrol responded to a Tudor Drive residence in Pompton Plains, on a report of an unwanted male in the apartment. The resident identified the unwanted male as: Joseph F. Lupo, 25 years of age from Pompton Plains, NJ. While the officers were standing by the apartment, the actor, Joseph Lupo came walking down the stairs and eventually placed under arrest. Mr. Lupo was transported to police headquarters where he was interviewed as the suspect in up to 4 other reported burglaries in the Tudor Glens complex. Mr. Lupo was charged with Criminal Trespass and Attempted Burglary. Bali was set by Municipal Judge, John A. Paparazzo at $50,000. He was transported to the Morris County Correctional Facility in default of the bail amount pending arrangement. Charged are pending against Mr. Lupo for the other reported burglaries in the area.
