DWI Arrest: On January 27, 2019 at 12:46 a.m., Ptl. Kevin Ricciardi was on patrol of Alexander Avenue approaching the intersection of Route 23. At that time, Ptl. Ricciardi observed a white Honda Accord stopped at the intersection for a red traffic signal. When the signal changed to green, the Honda did not move until the light cycled back to amber. The Honda then made a right turn without signaling onto Route 23 South where Ptl. Ricciardi observed the vehicle was unable to maintain its lane of travel. A traffic stop was conducted and Ptl. Ricciardi contacted the operator, later identified as Robert Medina, 27 years old of Elizabeth, N.J. Ptl. Ricciardi observed signs of alcohol consumption and removed Mr. Medina from his vehicle. After performing field sobriety tests, Mr. Medina was placed under arrest. He was transported to Pequannock Police Headquarters for processing where he was charged with driving while intoxicated, failure to observe a signal, failure to maintain a lane, and careless driving. Mr. Medina was released to a third party and has a scheduled court date at the Pequannock Municipal Court.
