DWI Arrest: On August 9, 2018 at 9:18 a.m., Pequannock Police Dispatch received a report of two unconscious males in a parked vehicle at a township church. As officers responded, dispatch received a second call with the caller stating that it was all a big misunderstanding and a hoax, and no one was passed out. As officers arrived they met with the caller, Steven Whitehead, 44 years old of West Milford, N.J. Ptl. Christopher McIvor interviewed Mr. Whitehead about the initial report. During Ptl. McIvor’s conversation with Mr. Whitehead he observed that Mr. Whitehead appeared to be under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. It was also learned that none of the reported events actually occurred. At this time, field sobriety tests were conducted and Mr. Whitehead was subsequently placed under arrest. He was transported to Riverdale Police Headquarters for breath testing. After completing breath tests, Mr. Whitehead was transported back to Pequannock Police Headquarters where he was processed and submitted to a Drug Recognition Expert evaluation. Mr. Whitehead was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, and failure to exhibit a driver’s license. He was released to a third party and has a scheduled court date at the Pequannock Municipal Court.
