However, please note the following:

  • The State Department of Health (NJDOH ) mandates that all laboratories must report COVID-19 positive test results to the State through the Communicable Disease Reporting and Surveillance System (CDRSS). This communicable disease reporting system is maintained by the NJ Department of Health, which is the custodian of these records.
  • These test results are assigned to local health departments for investigation. The local health department jurisdiction that receives the assignment and is responsible to conduct the investigation is based upon where the patient resides.
  • The investigations performed by the local health department include contact tracing and when applicable, setting forth isolation and quarantine requirements. Once the basic investigation and associated tasks are completed, the case is usually closed in the CDRSS.
  • The closed status of a case investigation does not indicate, in any way, whether the individual is still infectious, symptomatic, asymptomatic, whether the individual may still test positive for the disease subsequent to the closure of the case investigation, or even survived the disease. There is currently no clinical definition established for “recovered” by the CDC, NJDOH or the County of Morris Health Department, as it pertains specifically to this novel strain of coronavirus that causes COVID-19. Any division or agency that classifies cases as “recovered” does so without the consent, approval, or coordination of the CDC or the appropriate divisions of the NJDOH.
  • The data for closed cases will be updated periodically as data changes.
