On 7/6/21 a strong summer storm impacted the Township, with strong winds and significant power outages. Currently, several thousand residents remain out of power with restoration efforts underway. Cooling/Charging station(s) are now open.
July 7, 2021 - 1:00 PM Update
As of 1:00 PM JCP&L is reporting 2,700 customers remain out of power. Estimates first thing this morning include approximately 4,000 customers; power restoration efforts remain underway. Significant progress has been made with tree and debris removal.
July 7, 2021 - 9:45 AM (Initial Post)
Early on July 7, 2021 the Township of Pequannock was notified by JCP&L that the transmission lines to the substation serving the community were impacted by tress that feel from outside of the right-of-way. The substation remains down but JCP&L crews are conducting circuit sweeps address issues along the power lines to restore power as soon as possible. Residents are encouraged to report power outages to JCP&L by calling 888-544-4877.
Today's weather is forecast to have temperatures climbing into the 90s with even higher heat index figures. As of 10:00 am on July 7, 2021, there are three cooling/charging station(s) available:
