Coronavirus Disease

The Pequannock Township Health Department is actively involved in disease surveillance activities with the emergence of a novel corona virus known as COVID-19. Health Department staff receive daily updates from the CDC Health Alert Network on corona virus activity along with disease surveillance guidelines in evaluating persons under investigation in residential settings within our service area.. Travelers are initially assessed by CDC for risk levels based on travel to high risk areas or activities. High risk individuals are quarantined at sites established by CDC while medium risk individuals are referred to local Health Departments for appropriate follow up. For Individuals identified as medium risk the Department’s Public Health Nurses conduct interviews to determine the need for individual restrictions.

The Department is working with local area emergency response personnel in preparation for any heightened activity or response should an increased risk of contracting COVID-19 exist.

New Jersey Department of Health has established a Coronavirus Public Hotline (1-800-222-1222) for questions associated with Coronavirus Disease and Surveillance activities.

In addition, the following website developed by the CDC is available with answers to many questions concerning COVID-19.
