The starting salary is approximately $67,000.00.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Full PTC Certification is Required to apply OR are in the Process of Obtaining a Full PTC - (NO WAIVERS will be issued or considered)
  • Bachelors Degree or an Associates Degree plus 3 years law enforcement experience
  • Must be a United States citizen
  • Minimum age of 21 years old and not older that 35
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Acceptance into a certified NJ Police Training Academy OR Successful completion of a certified NJ Police Training Academy
  • Excellent physical fitness and ability to pass a physical examination
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively
  • Demonstrated good judgment and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Must reside within a reasonable distance from Pequannock

The job description doesn't imply an employment contract, nor is it intended to include every duty, task or instruction for which the employee is responsible. Other tasks may be assigned, based on business needs and the department supervisor's request.

ABOUT OUR DEPARTMENT

  • 32 sworn officers.
  • Located in Morris County NJ.
  • 20 officers in Patrol Division/ 5 Detectives in the Detective Bureau/ 4 officers in the Community Services/Traffic Bureau. Patrol schedule is 12 hour Pitman.
  • Hiring process consists of multiple in-person interviews, background checks, drug testing and field training, at minimum.
  • Pequannock Township population is approximately 15,000 residents
  • Pequannock Township is a suburban town approximately 7 square miles, encompassing both Pompton Plains and Pequannock. Both Interstate 287 and State Highway 23 run through it. The Township provides over 100 acres of parkland. There is one high school, one middle school, three elementary public schools, as well as three private schools.
